*Starting Salary: 70,000- $131,627; depending on experience and skills
*This will be a work-from-home position and the candidate can live anywhere near a major metropolitan area

The loss control technical specialist for electrical systems and thermography will serve as the electrical systems specialist for the company.  This position will support loss control, field sales, underwriting and CSU.  This specialist will be responsible for all aspects of the loss control electrical and thermography program, which includes:

  • Managing the vendor contract for third-party infrared (IR) scanning of policyholder sites
  • Overseeing the loss control IR camera program, including:
    • Evaluation and risk grading criteria
    • Associate training
    • Hardware and software management
    • Associate safety
    • Consulting with associates on image interoperation
  • Conducting full IR scans for policyholders
  • Serving as the department’s specialist in the areas of electrical systems testing and maintenance and employee safety (arc flash prevention)
  • Consulting with policyholders and agents in all areas of electrical systems testing and maintenance and employee safety (arc flash prevention)
  • Interfacing with company leadership and managers as an in-house electrical systems expert
  • Reviewing policy data and identify key accounts/buildings to proactively conduct IR scans
  • Managing vendor program including vetting of potential accounts, processing contract documents between Cincinnati Insurance and vendors, scheduling payment and subsequent loss control service work to agents and policyholders.
  • Providing training to other business units related to IR scanning and IR camera results.
  • Consulting with underwriting on any electrical-related issue, including arc flash issues.
  • Develop and maintain department and company standards for electrical system grading and evaluation.
  • Developing policyholder technical resources related to electrical exposures and controls.
  • Developing and managing department policies and procedures related to electrical system scanning and camera use.
  • Providing train-the-trainer courses to our loss control consultants
  • Conducting internal large loss reviews, loss analysis and participate in completing lessons from loss

This role will be the equivalent of other technical specialists in the loss control department and will be responsible for all areas of program management.  This position will report to a TSU manager.  



  • Ability to maintain, schedule and deliver direct infrared scanning services throughout the U.S.
  • Ability to travel to HQ on a regular basis for meetings
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to develop and deliver training content in a variety of platforms and media
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work with limited direct supervision
  • Ability to earn and maintain a nationally-recognized Level III IR Thermography certification
  • Comprehensive understanding of NFPA 70, NFPA 70B, NFPA 70E, NETA standards, and IBC sections related to electrical systems
  • Ability to participate in national standards committees (e.g. NFPA 70B committee)

Education and Experience:


  • Between 5 and 10 years of experience managing electrical systems in commercial or industrial buildings, or experience in electrical system testing and maintenance in commercial and industrial buildings.
  • Substantial experience in the insurance industry related to IR thermography or electrical specialization may be substituted for experience managing electrical systems
  • Experience conducting IR scans preferred
  • Level II thermographer preferred
  • Bachelors’ Degree in electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology, electrical systems design, industrial engineering or technology, or related technical field
