Job Details

The Role:

Performs duties requiring the integration of disciplines from more than one job family and functional area within the facilities occupation, such as planning, analysis, project administration, engineering, construction, and maintenance. Applies independent, specialized technical expertise to support a wide range of business objectives, including the development, integration, implementation, or execution of multidisciplinary business processes. Works cross-functionally with internal and external customers, suppliers, and all levels of employees.

 

Key Accountabilities:

Manage operation and maintenance of Wichita site electrical high voltage power transmission and distribution system, including utility/industrial substations, overhead/underground power lines and emergency power generation. 

  • This person will act as a System Operation Authority, determine overall system configuration considering contingency and risk factors
  • Oversee and manage employees for daily activity
  • Oversee capital / overhead budget related to maintenance and production related requirements
  • Provide guidance to other organizations supporting power system related initiatives, concerns and studies
  • Responsible for emergency responses during power outages to direct systems apparatus manipulation
  • On-call to respond to phone calls from Wester System Operators (power system monitoring) and Plant Power Outages
  • Manages Building Maintenance/ Lighting Electricians and the KIESCO Natural Gas Company

Skills & Experience:

Required Skills:

  • 5-10 years direct Electric Utility management experience

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Degree or completion of a Utility technical apprenticeship preferably in Instruments and Control or Operations
